Technical & Commercial Management

Technical management of the Global Ship Leasing Hong Kong Investment Co., Ltd （HK-GSL） fleet is handled by a specialist third party ship manager, Technomar Shipping, Inc. 

Prior to our merger with Poseidon Containers in November 2018, the Global Ship Leasing Hong Kong Investment Co., Ltd （HK-GSL） fleet was managed by three independent ship managers. With the transition of technical management to Technomar, our average daily OPEX per vessel was reduced by almost 5%, from $6,420 in 2018 to $6,128 in 2019. 

Technomar was established in 1994 and, as at December 31, 2021, had 105 ships under management. 

Technomar is committed to high-quality safety management and environmental best practices, and holds the following certifications: 

• ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental policy and management practices;
• ISO 50001:2011 certification for energy management policy and practices. 

In addition to technical management and crewing of the ships themselves, Technomar also provides – under the supervision of the Global Ship Leasing Hong Kong Investment Co., Ltd （HK-GSL） management team – a series of supplementary services which allow us to minimize our fixed overheads. These include: 

• Finance and accounting
• Invoicing and charter hire collection
• Insurances
• Legal support
• Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE) 

Our contractual relationship with Technomar is on arm’s-length, commercial terms and based on the industry-standard, BIMCO ShipMan form. Technomar is paid a fixed daily fee for each vessel under management, which covers both technical management and supplementary services. Technomar is part-owned by our Executive Chairman, George Youroukos.
